3 Decisions To Make When Having A Pool Built

Having a big yard with lots of open space is a fun area to have your kids run around in, but having that much space may also have you itching to put a swimming pool in. Swimming pools not only can add some value to your home, but they are also the perfect way for you to host friends and family to your house. Once you have decided to pull the trigger and have a pool put in, there are a few considerations that you will want to talk to your pool builder about. Read on to learn more about what those considerations are.

The Size

Depending on how large your lot is, you will want to talk to your pool builder about what size of pool can reasonably fit in your backyard. If you have a large family, you will want to have a large enough pool that everyone can get in without feeling too cramped, whereas if you have a smaller family, you may be able to get away with having a smaller pool for people to swim in.

A Hot Tub

Another consideration to make is whether or not you want to have a hot tub installed next to or with your pool. The fun thing about hot tubs is that you can use them year-round (even when it's cold and snowing out). If you want your hot tub to be one of the features of the pool, consider talking to your pool builder about having it overflow into your swimming pool; this is a fun way to make your swimming pool more of an attraction than anything.

Saltwater or Chlorine

Before your swimming pool contractor adds the pump and filtration system, you will need to decide whether you want to have a saltwater pool or a chlorine pool. Chlorine pools used to be the only popular option because chlorine is ideal for keeping a pool clean and pure, but they can also be harsh on your skin and hair. More and more, homeowners are putting in saltwater pools because they don't have the harsh chemicals and they are easier to your body. If you are going to be having tons of people in your pool at all times, then your contractor may recommend chlorine; otherwise, saltwater may be the better option to take.

Building a pool in your backyard is definitely worth celebrating, but before you let the celebrations begin, keep these considerations in mind.
